Vegas Drift Turns Las Vegas Motor Speedway Into a Grassroots Drift Hub

Vegas Drift continues to bring tire smoke and packed crowds to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, giving local drivers a real place to test their skills on track. What started as a small grassroots effort has grown into one of the most welcoming drift events in the city.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway Hosts Vegas Drift

Vegas Drift is a recurring event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and has been part of the local car scene for over a decade. The grassroots organization focuses on the spirit and sport of drifting within the Las Vegas community.

Early events were held in the North Drag Lot at the speedway, but as interest grew, the event expanded into the larger Outside Road Course section. Today, the Outside Road Course features two separate lots that allow beginner and intermediate drivers to practice safely at the same time.

This layout gives new drivers room to learn while more experienced drivers can push harder in their own space.

Every Vegas Drift event welcomes kids, adults, beginners, intermediate, and pro amateur-level drivers. Anyone can come out to watch or sign up to drive.

Driver registration costs $145, while spectator tickets are just $15, making it one of the more affordable ways to experience motorsports at a major venue. The open format and clear structure have helped the event grow steadily year after year.

The Spirit of Grassroots Drifting

Beyond the cars, the real heart of Vegas Drift is the community. Drivers are welcomed with open arms, and it is common to see people helping each other in the pits.

Some offer suspension setup advice, driving tips, and even repair help so a driver can get back on the track immediately after a part breaks.

Moments like these help inspire the next generation of drivers.

Notable Names That Add Hype To Each Event

Over the years, Vegas Drift has also hosted featured drivers and special appearances. In past seasons, former local driver and now professional Formula Drift competitor Forrest Wang attended events and connected with fans.

These appearances bring extra excitement and give local drivers a chance to see high-level talent up close. At the February 28 Vegas Drift event, local car influencer Josh Weaver spent time talking with fans and offering ride-along experiences.

The car produces around 600 horsepower, making it one of the strongest builds at the event. Seeing cars at this level share track space with beginners shows how open and balanced the event truly is.

Plenty of Ways to Watch the Action

Vegas Drift also offers multiple areas for spectators to enjoy the action. There is a full turf visitor experience area where guests can sit on benches and relax while watching cars slide through the course.

This section also features local vendors, giving fans a place to grab food, browse merchandise, and take a break between sessions. The setup makes it easy for families to spend several hours at the event comfortably.

For those who want to be closer to the action, there is also a standing-only area that puts fans near the track. From here, you can hear the engines at full throttle and feel the vibration as cars transition from corner to corner.

It is a prime spot for anyone looking to capture photos or video of the drifting. The different viewing areas make the event accessible for both casual visitors and serious car enthusiasts.

A Growing Home for Local Drifters

With frequent events throughout the year, Vegas Drift continues to give the Las Vegas community a consistent place to drive, learn, and connect. The mix of beginners, experienced drivers, families, and fans keeps each event fresh.

For JDM and drifting fans, there is never a shortage of tire smoke or seat time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Vegas Drift has built more than an event. It has built a home for the local drift scene.
