Honda Launches Honda Heritage Works To Preserve Its Iconic Cars

Honda is preparing something special for its most loyal sports car owners. A new heritage program is coming, built by people who lived the history. It starts with an icon and focuses on keeping classics alive.

Heritage Works Begins With the NSX

Honda officially announced the Honda Heritage Works program, launching on April 1, 2026. The program is a dual focused effort aimed at supporting classic Honda and Acura sports cars.

Honda Heritage Works includes two separate services under the Heritage Works program. Honda Heritage Parts is a global parts supply program for discontinued components.

Honda Restoration Service is a factory backed restoration program available only in Japan.

The Honda Heritage Works program will begin with the first generation Honda NSX. Honda plans to expand parts and services to other classic Honda sports cars in the future.

Heritage Parts Keep Classics on the Road

Honda Heritage Parts exists to address growing shortages of discontinued genuine parts. Honda identified that some critical components can no longer be supplied through traditional channels.

To solve this, Honda created two types of heritage parts. Genuine Honda Heritage Compatible Parts are newly developed replacements using modern methods. These parts restore original function without requiring full reproduction. They may use new materials or partial repairs to achieve proper operation.

Genuine Honda Heritage Reproduction Parts are made using OEM original materials and production methods. These parts closely match factory specifications from the original production era.

Both compatible and reproduction parts are sold under the Honda Heritage Parts lineup. All heritage parts will be available globally through existing Honda genuine parts distribution channels.

Honda will update the official Honda Heritage Works website as new parts are added.

Restoration Service Evolves From NSX Refresh Plan

Honda Restoration Service evolves from the long-running NSX Refresh Plan, which is dedicated to restoring first-generation NSXs to factory condition since 1993. The application period for the NSX Refresh Plan ended in August 2025.

The new Honda Restoration Service focuses on preserving original driving feel and performance. The service is only available in Japan with applications starting as early as January 2026.

Two restoration options are offered to customers. Basic Restoration focuses on engines, suspension, and critical mechanical systems.

Total Restoration adds exterior and interior restoration along with engine and performance updates. This includes full repainting after complete body disassembly. Interior work includes seats, dashboards, door panels, and controls.

A Honda facility in Takanezawa, Tochigi Prefecture will lead this restoration work. This location is the birthplace of the first generation NSX.

The facility will be renamed ‘Honda Heritage Works Takanezawa’ and deliver restorations only Honda can perform.

The Engineers and Planners Behind Honda Heritage Works

Honda Heritage Works is led by engineers with deep personal ties to the NSX. Ryo Kato, Technical Service Department Refresh Center Manager, oversees planning for the program.

He previously worked on electric power steering for the second-generation NSX. Kato also worked in Honda genuine parts sales.

Kato pursued the project after experiencing the joy of heritage parts himself. He believes the goal is helping owners drive one more day and one more mile.

Toshiya Kanda, Expert Engineer in Honda’s Automobile Development Strategy Department, coordinates development strategy for the heritage project.

He joined Honda in 1989 and worked on NSX braking systems. Kanda also led chassis projects like the Integra Type R.

He believes keeping cars running matters more than perfect factory reproduction. Kanda helped define compatible parts that balance function, quality, and cost.

Ryuji Oguri, Technical Service Department Refresh Center Chief, leads restoration operations at the Refresh Center.

He joined Honda through Honda Academy and worked on vehicle quality issues. Oguri brings a factory correct mindset from the NSX Refresh Plan.

He pushes the team to preserve quality whenever possible. Together, the team combines passion, experience, and practicality to protect Honda sports car history.
