Subaru Price Drops The WRX To Unexpected Levels

Subaru Price Drops WRX For 2026

Subaru is making a strong move with the 2026 WRX, and it starts with money. The performance sedan is returning with lower prices, more trims, and a familiar color that longtime fans will recognize right away.

Subaru Brings In New Year New Pricing

Subaru has significantly reduced pricing for the 2026 WRX, and the timing is not accidental. WRX sales fell sharply in 2025, and the brand is clearly using lower prices to reenergize interest in the lineup.

One of the biggest changes is the return of the Base WRX, which was completely removed for the 2025 model year. Subaru has also introduced the limited production WRX Series.Yellow, finished in the returning Sunrise Yellow paint.

The 2026 WRX Base model starts at $33,690, which makes it $5,230 cheaper to get into a WRX compared to last year.

The Premium trim now starts at $35,190, representing a $3,730 price drop from the previous model year.

At the top of the range is the WRX Series.Yellow starts at $47,190 and is limited to just 350 units.

WRX Trim and Feature Breakdown

Every 2026 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.4 liter turbocharged BOXER engine producing 271 horsepower and paired with Subaru Symmetrical All Wheel Drive.

The Base model comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission and 18-inch alloy wheels. It also features summer performance tires and a sport-tuned suspension.

Inside, the WRX Base includes an 11.6-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Keyless access and push-button start are now included. Subaru EyeSight driver assist technology is also standard, even on manual models.

Buyers can also option a Harman Kardon audio system and a power moonroof, adding more daily comfort without stepping up to a higher trim.

The WRX Series.Yellow is based on the tS trim and focuses on performance and exclusivity. It features STI-tuned electronically controlled dampers, Brembo brakes with gold calipers, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The exterior is finished in Sunrise Yellow with black badging and matte black wheels, while the interior receives Ultrasuede upholstery with yellow contrast stitching throughout.

Subaru Aims To Bring Back Buyers

By lowering prices across the WRX lineup, Subaru is clearly working to attract buyers back after a difficult sales year.

The return of the Base model and the addition of the limited Series.Yellow shows a renewed focus on value and enthusiast appeal.

At the same time, Subaru has signaled its performance intentions by showcasing STI concept cars at the Tokyo Auto Salon, reinforcing that high-performance models remain part of the brand’s future direction.

Together, these moves position the WRX as both more accessible and more aligned with Subaru’s performance roots.
