Liberty Walk Revives Retro Racing with the S13

Liberty Walk officially debuted its LB-Super Silhouette S13 complete body kit at Tokyo Auto Salon, showcasing one of its most extreme designs to date.

The kit is designed for the S13 chassis and pays tribute to the legendary Group 5 race cars from the 1980s. It features wide, squared-off fenders, a slant nose front end, and a low, race-inspired stance that completely changes the appearance of the car.

The Super Silhouette S13 body kit is made from reinforced fiberglass and includes nearly every exterior panel except the roof and doors.

Buyers receive a front bumper with integrated markers, fog lights, fog covers, and stays, along with front canards and vented wide fenders.

The package also includes side skirts, rear wide fender quarter panels, a rear bumper with tail light garnish and back light, a rear wing, trunk cover, vented hood, and rear diffuser.

The kit delivers a true Super Silhouette look with exaggerated proportions and aggressive aero elements. The wide body panels give the car a muscular profile, while the vented hood and large rear wing reinforce its race-inspired character.

Pricing for the full body kit ranges from $19,800 to $28,600, depending on the selected options and upgrades.

Tracing the Group 5 Influence in Liberty Walk’s S13 Kit

The Super Silhouette body kit draws heavy inspiration from Group 5 racing, a motorsport category that played a major role in shaping Japanese touring car culture.

From the mid 1970s through the early 1980s, Group 5 regulations allowed manufacturers to modify production-based cars heavily. This led to extreme bodywork, massive fenders, and dramatic aerodynamic designs.

In Japan, Group 5 became closely associated with silhouette-style racers used in the Japanese Grand Champion series.

These cars were visually striking and mechanically advanced, built to push performance and styling limits. Famous examples include modified versions of the Mazda Savanna RX-7, Nissan Skyline Turbo, Nissan Bluebird SSS Turbo, and Toyota Celica Turbo.

These race cars shared a common theme of exaggerated proportions and aggressive aero parts that made them stand out on track. Wide fenders, large spoilers, deep front spoilers, and bold liveries became trademarks of the era.

The Liberty Walk Super Silhouette S13 kit recreates this spirit by translating those design elements into a modern street-focused package.

Liberty Walk’s Ongoing Impact on JDM Culture

Founded by Wataru Kato, Liberty Walk has built its reputation on creating bold and unconventional widebody designs.

Kato has often spoken about being inspired by older enthusiasts who shared their passion for cars with him before he even had a driver’s license. That early influence continues to shape the company’s creative direction.

Over the years, Liberty Walk has become one of the most recognizable names in the global tuning scene. Its signature riveted widebody kits and dramatic styling have helped redefine how modified Japanese cars are viewed worldwide.

The Super Silhouette S13 kit continues this tradition by blending history, craftsmanship, and modern customization.
