Infiniti Revives The Q50 With Z Tune & Manual Transmission

Infiniti is preparing a return to its roots. A familiar name is now set to rise again. The company wants to bring back real feel driving, and a key model will lead that charge.

Infiniti Plans The Return Of The Q50 In 2027

Infiniti discontinued the Q50 in 2024, but the sedan is now planned for a comeback in 2027. The company wants to revive fun rear wheel drive cars and the Q50 fits that goal.

The sedan will use a rear wheel drive layout and it will offer a manual transmission. Infiniti expects only about ten percent of buyers to choose the manual option.

The model will stay a sedan and there is no word about a coupe version. Infiniti is also expected to improve the VR30DDTT tune and align it with the latest Nissan Z setup.

The move fits the brand’s plan to recycle platforms and engines to save costs and improve output.

What To Expect From A Q50 Using The Z Tune

Infiniti has not released full details, but the path looks clear. The Q50 could use the Nissan Z tune if both models share similar parts.

The latest Z uses a 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 from the VR30DDTT family. Output sits at 400 horsepower in the Sport and Performance trims. Output rises to 420 horsepower in the NISMO variant.

Torque reaches 350 pound feet in the Sport and Performance trims. Torque rises to 384 pound feet in the NISMO variant.

The Z also offers a six speed manual or a nine speed automatic. Rear wheel drive comes standard. The Z reaches sixty miles per hour in about 4.3 to 4.5 seconds.

These numbers show what the Q50 could achieve if Infiniti carries the tune over.

Q50 Revival Signals Infiniti’s Return to Bold Performance

Infiniti is working to reconnect with its performance heritage and engage loyal fans. Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier emphasizes the brand’s focus on bold, driver-focused vehicles.

Meunier himself recently bought a Nissan Z, choosing a manual for both its engagement and rarity.

The return of the Q50 with a manual option reinforces this commitment and channels the spirit of the G35 and G37.

This revival shows Infiniti is serious about delivering exciting, expressive cars and shaping the brand’s future direction.
