The Nissan Skyline is preparing for a grand finale. After more than a decade on the road, Japan’s flagship sports sedan is getting a new special edition. Fans of the Skyline will want to pay attention because this one is rare, focused, and fully tuned by Nissan’s performance team.
Meet The Skyline 400R Limited
Nissan has officially revealed the Skyline 400R Limited, a new special edition sedan exclusive to Japan. While the Skyline name is iconic in Japan, the same car is sold as the Infiniti Q50 in the United States.
Production of the US Q50 has ended, making this limited Skyline edition even more meaningful for fans of Nissan’s sports sedans. The 400R Limited will be the final chapter for the V37-generation Skyline, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a rare, well-tuned model before the line retires.

The Skyline 400R Limited builds on the standard 400R trim while offering subtle upgrades that make it feel more special. Nissan positions it just below the 400R Nismo in the domestic lineup, giving drivers a performance sedan with a unique focus on handling and styling.
This is not a flashy Nismo model, but it has its own charm with carbon fiber details, a refined chassis setup, and exclusive interior touches. It’s a sedan designed for fans who care about performance and exclusivity, not just badges.
400R Limited Breakdown: Power, Performance, and Precision
The 400R Limited is limited to just 400 units, making it a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts. Unlike some Japanese performance editions distributed through a lottery system, Nissan will sell these on a first-come, first-served basis. That means those who act fast will secure their spot in line for this exclusive sedan.

The Skyline 400R Limited starts at ¥6,935,500 Yen, approximately $45,400 USD. That is a ¥440,000 increase, approximately $3,000 USD, over the standard 400R, reflecting the additional upgrades and exclusivity. With only 400 units available, this edition is designed for fans who appreciate the final chapter of the V37 Skyline.
Every car comes with unique badging at the rear to signify its special status, so it is immediately recognizable as something different from the standard 400R.
Under the hood, the Skyline 400R Limited keeps the familiar VR30DDTT twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine. It produces 400 horsepower, slightly below the 400R Nismo’s 414 hp, but still plenty for an engaging drive.
Owners also have the option between an all black or white and black leather interior.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is shared with the standard 400R and the Nissan Z, providing a proven setup with smooth power delivery and strong acceleration. It is built to offer a sporty experience while remaining practical for daily use.
The suspension is tuned for sharper handling. The front springs are 4 percent stiffer, while the rear stabilizer springs get a 44 percent boost. This makes the 400R Limited feel more planted around corners without being overly harsh.
Braking has also been upgraded. The fade-resistant pads provide more confidence during spirited driving or track use. Completing the performance setup, the car rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in wider Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tires. These changes improve grip, handling, and overall driving confidence, making the car feel more connected to the road.

The 400R Limited trim skips the full Nismo body kit but adds subtle visual upgrades. Carbon fiber mirror caps, a discreet rear spoiler, and carbon accents inside the cabin give it a sporty feel.
The interior also features a numbered plaque that reads “Tuned by NMC,” highlighting Nissan’s in-house performance tuning. This small detail reinforces the car’s exclusivity and the care put into every unit produced.
Carbon, Colors, and Other 400R Limited Extras
Nissan has also introduced a new Wangan Blue paint option for the Skyline 400R Limited. This shade is reserved for special sports cars in Nissan’s lineup and is formulated with pigments that subtly shift depending on light and time of day.
It gives the car a dynamic appearance that stands out at both daytime and nighttime events. Interior updates include carbon fiber trim on the center console and other subtle accents to reinforce the sporty, exclusive feel.
The 400R Limited focuses on balance and driver engagement rather than flashy aesthetics. This approach ensures it is visually appealing without looking overdone. Small touches like unique badging and the “Tuned by NMC” plaque make it clear this is not just another 400R.
Every detail has a purpose, blending performance with style for a refined driving experience.
The Final Legacy of the V37 Skyline
The Skyline 400R Limited captures the essence of Nissan’s performance heritage. Every detail, from the tuned chassis to the carbon accents, emphasizes precision and care. It delivers a connected driving experience while standing out with exclusive styling and paint.
Limited production ensures rarity, making this edition a sought-after collectible. For Japanese enthusiasts, it marks a fitting farewell to the V37 Skyline, blending engineering focus with subtle, refined design touches.
